Caring for family
We are currently in Stage 4 lockdown here in Melbourne so not doing much except walking, reading, TV and craft. I went to Otago Uni after Form 7, initially to study Pharmacy, but after my first year opted to do a Chemistry degree. After I graduated, I worked in Auckland for a year in a chemistry laboratory within the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries. I then took leave to travel and work in the UK and Europe where I met my husband. I eventually moved to Melbourne, Australia to be with him and raise my family. I opted to stay home to care for the children and instead took up volunteer work with the elderly, which I have been doing for the last 21 years. In between, I have done some different jobs but now only do a few audits and my volunteer work. I enjoy my craft and in particular card-making and that has been a good distraction during the current pandemic.
The last few years, I have also been kept very busy helping mind our first grandchild, which has been an absolute joy.
Do what you love then work is never a job or a chore.
